I am making a horror film, for teenagers from the age of 12-15, i want my my audience to be cine literate, because i want to them to identify and understand the conventions of a horror film ie the mise en scene, understanding why i chosen the following location, ie a wooded area and the effect i want it to have on them. I also want them to have a level of expectation, i want them to know what to expect in a horror film. My film is also targetted at people who enjoy watching horror films and are thrilled and excited by the prospect of them. After extensive research on the british board of film classicfication (BBFC) i realised the 12a certificate best suited my film. My films fits in to the 12 certificate, because my film may include some bad language but it will be infrequent and minimal, my film will not include any scenes of a sexual nature, or reference to nudity, however 12a films allow sexual nudity long as its brief and discreet. The violence within my film will be moderate, to convey meaning to the audience and make them aware of the spirit, which they will not physically see in the film, only thorough other characters, There may be gory moments, ie blood and minor injuries, this will also help the audience aknowledge the spirit and feel its presense within the film. My film can be passed on the 12a certificate because, it contains moderate physical and psychological threat which is permitted at 12 or 12A as long as the disturbing sequences are not too frequent or sustained. My film will not contain dangerous behavior ie hanging, suicide and self-harming, it will not include discriminatory behaviour and it will not endorsed by the film as a whole. There may be infrequent sight of drugs misuse in a 12 or a 12A but the portrayal will not be glamorised or provide instructional details.
